Despite controversy following AI cloning actors, and musicians, YouTube Shorts have now uploaded celebrity clones generated through the use of AI. Could this cause another Hollywood strike?
Google have now announced their new AI model. They’re calling it the “most advanced music generation model to date” It generates music of a great quality. Providing instrumentals along with vocals. It’s said that the user will have control over the final output.
The tech giants have mentioned brand-new AI experiments they’re working on. One being Dream Track which is a YouTube dubbed feature. The second based around Music AI tools that will be designed alongside artists, music producers and songwriters.
Google have said they’ve brought in technical experts from across the company to design and develop their new projects. Their aim is to explore generative music and how it can shape the future of music production. This is why they need the help of artists.
Dream Track allows a limited amount of YouTube Shorts creators based in the US to use tools to create a soundtrack. This soundtrack will be completely unique to them. But, will feature well known voices, and styles.
Artists Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Sia, T-Pain, Troye Sivan and Papoose are all part of this experiment. So, creators will be able to make something using the music styles of these artists.
These artists have agreed to be part of this new adventure. All artists included in this project are signed to either Warner Music or Universal. None are signed to Sony Music. Short’s users will be able to use these artist’s AI generated music for up to 30 seconds of their own track.
We’re unsure yet when more users will be able to access this feature. It’s likely, in time, more artists will be added to the pool. However, we wonder what Hollywood stars think of this. Their recent battles have been partly because of AI.
