Deezer has introduced a new feature for premium users. Now, just like with Spotify, and YouTube Music, users can allow AI to create playlists for them.
Deezer has joined the ranks of music streaming services offering AI-powered playlist features. The company announced that a select group of its paid subscribers can now create custom playlists using text prompts. Through its new “Playlist with AI” feature. This launch follows similar initiatives from Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube.
How it works
The new feature allows users to generate playlists based on descriptive prompts that include moods, genres, decades, activities, and more. For example, users could request an early 2000s pop-rock playlist for workouts. Or a 2010s feel-good mix for studying. Deezer ensures that prompts are free from hate speech, explicit content, and harassment.
Limited beta access
Currently, only 5% of Deezer’s paying subscribers have access to this beta feature. These users can create new playlists based on written prompts that describe various musical factors. Hopefully, once the platform has tried and tested its methods with various users, they will be able to expand this and reach users worldwide.

She highlighted the feature’s ability to curate the perfect soundtrack for various activities and moods within seconds, offering endless possibilities for music discovery.
The AI powering this feature is based on Google’s Gemini 1.5 model. Deezer has been using AI to enhance its recommendation algorithms and overall user experience, with notable features like Flow and Song Catcher. The more Deezer users get to try this feature out, the more feedback the company will be able to receive, which in turn will allow for growth.
Future rollout
Deezer has not yet announced when the “Playlist with AI” feature will be more widely available. The company continues to leverage AI to refine and improve its music streaming service. It’s likely, throughout the year and into next year, we will see further adaptations and added AI features as the AI world continues to expand.
