Electric car company Rivian have partnered with Apple Music

Both Apple and Rivian have announced the integration of Apple Music support within Rivian electric cars. However, you will need two subscriptions for this to work (that’s the fine print).

Two major companies have just announced a partnership of some form. Apple Music support will now be accessible within Rivian electric cars. Owners of these cars will be able to get the latest software updates and begin streaming music all from the car dashboard.

However, there is a catch. Despite paying all that money for a shiny new car, you’ll then need a Rivian Connect+ subscription, as well as an Apple Music membership. Two further expenses just to ensure this feature runs correctly.

The new Apple feature comes under Rivian’s premium connectivity package. It seems quite cheeky that owners of these cars have features they cannot access without paying out even more money. These features should be accessible providing you have an Apple account.

If your vehicle has the Premium Audio sound system, which many do, you’ll be able to stream in Spatial Audio. This could be a game changer for many car fanatics who love loud music. You’ll access Dolby Atmos mastered music, which is forever expanding.

The fees however aren’t cheap. You’ll need to pay $14.99 per month for Rivian Connect+ or $149 per year. Then, you’ll need to pay an extra $10.99 per month to access Apple Music. All Rivian owners will have a two-month free Apple Music trial.

Once that has finished, you’ll need to pay to continue with the experience. Rivian’s CEO has said they have no interest in CarPlay, however they are excited about this new partnership. CarPlay is a feature loved by so many car owners, so we’re unsure why they aren’t interested.
