Look, for all of you Scrooge’s out there, it’s December 1st, so we’re officially allowed to talk about all things Christmas! The holidays are here, so we want to spread the joy by listing the best festive songs as chosen by the people themselves. We’re not responsible for these crackin’ tunes so if you’re a Grinch, don’t blame us…

So, let’s start by saying these are in no particular order. We’re just supplying you with 10 of the best Christmas songs you could hear around December. Trust us, there’s plenty more. Hopefully these will get stuck in your head after reading this article. You can thank us later. We’ll be singing along all season.

All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey

A classic, don’t deny it. It’s one that will find itself stuck on a never-ending loop in your brain. It makes us feel warm inside that’s for sure. It just screams Christmas celebrations. After 26 years, Mariah Carey finally reached the UK number 1 spot with this track. She even managed to beat Last Christmas by Wham. Mariah Carey has rightly been named the Queen of Christmas which she has taken in her stride. She absolutely loves it, and who can blame her? Who wouldn’t want to be Christmas royalty?

Last Christmas – Wham!

Another classic, this one has sleighbells featured in it. What screams Christmas more than the sound of Santa’s helpers pulling him along? Beat to the top spot by Mariah though. Maybe we shouldn’t have put them next to each other, ouch. Still, they don’t need a number one title for this brilliant Christmas number.

White Christmas – Bing Crosby

This one gives us feelings of warmth. Imaging sitting by the fire all toasty and warm. With the snow coming down outside and the ground covered in white snow. We might not get the snow we dreamed of, but that’s exactly it. The song is all about hoping for it. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll have a white Christmas this year?

Step Into Christmas – Elton John

It’s one that gets everyone jumping around or at least tapping their feet. Human instinct can’t be helped and this one unlocks every instinct we have. Sir Elton John is a complete icon anyway, so any Christmas song released by him was bound to be fantastic.

Merry Xmas Everybody – Slade

This is one we hope to hear everywhere we go around this festive season. It’s certain we will, but still, we’re hoping for it. What an absolute Christmas classic. The brilliant fashion sense of the time will pop back up on our screens. We’ll all be dancing along to this festive favourite.

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard

A classic piece of 70s pop. Including everyone’s favourite, a children’s choir. That seems to be like marmite, either you love them and think they’re sweet or you hate the sound of a group of children singing. However, you can’t deny it does mean Christmas. The band themselves might have a bit of a name for themselves for being slightly wild, but the song really is one we all remember.

Jingle Bell Rock – Bobby Helms

Released back in 1957, this one sat at the top spot every Christmas for 5 years. That’s quite something. It has to be a Christmas classic with that kind of record. It’s only continued to increase in popularity. Although sadly, some generations will remember it as the Mean Girls song…

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – The Jackson 5

It’s so popular that everyone seems to have created their own cover. The song is featured in every Christmas movie, ever. Nothing beats the classic version though. It’s one you can’t help singing along to and the angelic voices within the song just add to it.

Driving Home For Christmas – Chris Rea

Stick this on the radio during rush hour, and it just makes the commute that much better. No longer are you bothered by the long queues in front of you because you’re on your way home, and it’s Christmas. It’s been featured in the charts twice within the UK and even took over Norway at one point. A song that everyone can sing along to while on their way to their families house for Christmas.

Anything, absolutely anything by Michael Bublé

Is this one cheating? We kind of feel like it is because technically this isn’t a particular song we’ve featured. But, you can’t not include the main man himself. Yes, his Christmas songs are covers, but he is the King of Christmas. The King to Mariah Carey’s Queen we could say. When you think of Christmas, you think of Michael Bublé coming back out of hiding. He seems to tuck himself away for the rest of the year and then comes out to shine, just as bright as the star at the top of your tree. No one does Christmas quite like it, surely you agree?
