TikTok has grown closer with Apple Music and Spotify. The two music platforms have added a button allowing their users to share content directly to TikTok. This comes after TikTok Music shut down.
Recently, TikTok shut down their music streaming platform. It was never hugely popular, mainly because they hadn’t released it across many countries. However, it was something they intended to grow, to rival platforms like Spotify and Apple Music originally.
Instead, they have decided to work with these streaming platforms to enhance user experience. Both Apple Music and Spotify have now launched a ‘Share to TikTok’ button, which encourages users to share music with their video audience.
At this current stage, the option is only available on these two music stores. Users can share; music, podcasts and audiobooks from these two platforms directly to TikTok. When the content is shared, it will either be via the feed or within a story.
Tracks, albums and playlists can be shared with a green screen feature, or by users adding a photo. This allows a user to engage with the song before sharing it to their account. Content can even be sent directly to other TikTok users through the messaging service.
A link sending users back to the original streaming platform content will always be shared. This helps both the artist and the streaming store. It adds a new level of content sharing by letting creators add a personal flare to their favourite tracks.
“Today’s launch of ‘Share to TikTok’ is the latest example of our ongoing commitment to support music discovery and artist promotion in partnership with music streaming services.”
Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok
Spotify previously partnered with Instagram
Only recently, Spotify partnered with Instagram. Allowing Instagram users to save music they find through the app directly to their Spotify account. These partnerships are brilliant for rising music artists, as there are more ways than ever to share your music.
Discovery is a huge part of the music process. The more places featuring your work, the more likely you are to have your music head and find new audiences. That’s why, allowing listeners to share content to platforms where they might have a presence will benefit smaller artists.
It just takes one large account to find your music and share it. Then, it becomes a snowball effect. Content creators, streamers, podcasters and music artists can all bounce off each other, sharing their work and helping each other grow.
