Quiet mode allows you to zone out of the chaos that social media often can be and pause any notifications for a while. It’s easy enough to turn on or off, but not everyone seems to know about it.
Instagram has the option of a quiet mode. Within this mode you can pause notifications, which means you won’t be disturbed throughout the day/night depending on how long you have this mode turned on for. There is a default setting, but you can edit this.
If you’re someone who gets easily distracted and needs to enforce a break, or you’re someone who doesn’t want to be overwhelmed by the constant notifications social media platforms can bring, you might be interested in Instagram’s quiet mode.
Instagram’s default settings are from 23:00 to 07:00. This runs from night until morning and stops the notifications or messages reaching your phone within this time. You can change these timings to suit your sleeping habits better. The mode can be on for up to 12 hours.
If you receive a message during quiet hours, an auto-responder will reply and let the person messaging know that you are in quiet mode. Your activity status will be set to quiet mode, and the active green dot that normally appears will change to a moon icon.
People can still message you, but you won’t be informed. You will have a summary of messages or notifications that were sent while you were in this mode, when you come out of it. It forces you to step back and take a break from social media, which can be hard.
