Have you ever had the title of the top fan for your favourite Facebook page? Do you want to label individuals as your greatest supporters? Well, you can easily do this, in just a few simple steps.
Facebook previously offered an option to be a top commenter. However, this is something they have since removed. While we cannot confirm why, we believe it will be due to the potential use of spam. People can comment as many times as they like, all in aid of receiving a badge. It gives the wrong people rewards for something that shouldn’t be encouraged.
They do offer the option to include top fan badges, however. This will be rewarded to those who engaged with your page the most. If they’re often liking, commenting and sharing your posts, they might get to add a badge to their account. This will be visible any time they comment on your posts. So, you’ll know who your top supporters are.
Facebook pages can also include rising fan badges. These are for those who are on their way to the top but haven’t quite qualified as a top fan. Facebook users don’t have to accept these badges. If they do, it will appear next to their name when interacting with your page. However, they can choose to ignore the badge, and it won’t show.
Rising fans and top fan badges are available on all pages, except for those that could potentially be damaging. For example; they likely won’t be available on government pages, or political affiliations. You can turn off rising and top fans from your page, so they simply aren’t an option. Here’s how you do this:
Turn rising/top fan badges on or off
- Log in to Facebook from a computer, then click your profile photo in the top right.
- Click See all profiles, then select the Page that you want to switch into.
- Click Professional dashboard in the left menu. You may need to click See more first.
- Click Fan engagement in the left menu below Your tools.
- Toggle Top fan and/or Rising fan to turn the badges on or off.
Manage your top/rising fans
Please note: You can only remove a badge from a top fan or rising fan with the Facebook app for Android, iPhone or iPad.
- From the Facebook app, tap
or your profile photo.
- Select the Page you want to use.
- Go to your Page, then go to a comment from the top fan or rising fan whose badge you want to remove.
- Tap the top fan or rising fan badge next to the profile name.
- Tap Remove top fan badge or Remove rising fan badge.
