TikTok have joined their rivals YouTube by introducing a new search method. Allowing you to hum or sing a song into the search tool and their smart technology will locate it.
Previously, YouTube added a feature which allowed users to sing or hum into their microphone on their smartphone and the service would look up the track. Now, TikTok have joined in the fun, and have added the feature to their platform.
TikTok have introduced ‘Sound Search‘ which allows users to sing or hum a tune and the platform will locate it. Users can then use these sounds within their TikTok videos. It acts slightly like Shazam, and makes the platform easier to navigate.
Users will be able to locate the music they require at a much quicker speed, without the need for searching for the few lyrics they may remember. They won’t need to sing word for word. Instead, they can hum the tune and let the platform do the rest.
The feature has been said to allow users to find specific videos, too. For example, if the video you’re looking for contains a catchphrase you know, you can speak this, and it will locate all videos using that sound. It offers more than just music, which is great.
While the feature is being launched, not all users will be able to see it. It’s available for some users within certain regions, but we expect to see it grow and expand as it builds popularity. Once TikTok has ironed out every bug, we’re sure everyone will have access to it.
