TikTok has become the app to go viral on. It seems potentially easier to achieve with their For You Page. However, it can be difficult to get your content on there in the first place. You need to be posting at the right times to attract enough attention that TikTok will start placing your content for everyone to see.
Is there a right or wrong time to post on TikTok?
TikTok has a huge mix of personal preferences within the app. It does base your suggested videos off what you have previously watched or interacted with. However, to be in with a chance of having your content suggested, you need to do well on the FYP. So yes, there can be a right or wrong time, but you will need to consider what you’re posting, who you’re aiming it at etc also. There are more factors that go into your TikTok videos and where they place than just timings.
You’ll want to post to TikTok when your audience is already on the app. This isn’t something you’ll ever be able to get perfect, because unless you’re with your audience all day, how are you going to know for sure? Also, the great thing about TikTok is; most people scroll the platform more than once a day. People are still hooked. So, they’ll typically go on whenever they have a free moment. If you’re just starting out and don’t really have an audience yet, we’d advise going for a time when you think most people will be watching.
Consider evenings for newbies. After all, most people work throughout the day. Of course, if your niche revolves around shift work, or night shifts etc, you’re not going to be posting at night, are you? Your potential audience won’t be awake. Another thing to think about is your audience’s timezones. If you’re creating content for people within your own country, then you can just work off your own timings. However, if you’re a travel vlogger, and you’re aiming videos at people in the US or various other places, encouraging them to travel the world, you will need to post at their times.
How often you post is another thing to think about. It is more than just when you post. If you’re posting once and then don’t pick up the app for a few weeks or months, you’re not going to be held highly by TikTok’s algorithm. TikTok suggests posting to your account 1-4 times per day. This will help keep yourself relevant and give you more of a chance of being noticed. Posting enough will keep your audience happy, and also the algorithm will work closer in your favour. However, it might take a bit of time to find a schedule that works best for you. Have you thought about trying out posting before work, on your lunch break and then after?

Day | Time |
Monday | 22:00 |
Tuesday | 9:00 |
Wednesday | 7:00 |
Thursday | 19:00 |
Friday | 15:00 |
Saturday | 11:00 |
Sunday | 16:00 |
The times are quite different each day. This means if you’re going to follow this schedule, you’ll need to be prepared. Creating multiple TikTok videos when you have time and saving them to your drafts is the best way to plan ahead. Otherwise, you’ll have to find yourself with enough time to create a new video every time you want to post. That’s likely to stop pretty quickly and leave you without the 1-4 per day video mark. As you start to get a feel for when your audience is online, it’s important to switch your timings to suit. Rather than posting when is best for you, think about when is best for them if you want to grow.
